The Biceps muscle (Biceps Brachii) has long been shown to signify strength.
Popeye is a famous 90's cartoon character known for his show of strength.
Biceps brachii is one of the main muscles of the upper arm which acts on both the shoulder joint and the elbow joint.
It derives its name from the fact that it consists of two parts (heads).

Tendon is a structure that attaches muscle to the bone
From the above link, you can learn that the biceps muscle is attached to the bone in 3 areas:
1. Proximally, via the long head tendon
2. Proximally, via the short head tendon
3. Distally, via the distal bicep tendon
Popeye muscle is a characteristic bulge in the upper arm that occurs as result of:
1. Bilateral proximal tendon rupture &/or
2. Distal biceps tendon rupture
In proximal tendon rupture, the muscle moves down towards the upper arm whereas in distal tendon rupture, the muscle retracts up toward the upper arm.
In both situations, the result is a characteristic bulge seen at the middle of the upper arm known as POPEYE MUSCLE.
